  • Usually paired with an 8kW inverter (sometimes configured as 8.8kW of panels on an 8kW inverter to squeeze out more morning and afternoon generation)
  • Single-phase compatible in most QLD and NSW homes, though export limits vary by network

What It Generates

Across QLD and NSW, a well-installed, unshaded 8kW system typically produces around 29–34kWh per day, averaged over the year. That's enough to cover the daytime use of a busy family home with plenty spare to export or store in a battery.

Output figures are estimates based on industry-standard modelling for north-facing, unshaded roofs. Orientation, tilt, shading and weather all affect real-world results.

Who an 8kW System Suits

An 8kW system is a strong fit if you:

What Affects the Price of an 8kW System

The Federal Incentive (STCs)

An 8kW system in QLD or NSW earns roughly 55 small-scale technology certificates in 2026 — an incentive of about $2,000–$2,300 at recent certificate prices, applied by your installer as an upfront point-of-sale discount (the prices above already include it). The certificate count steps down each January until the scheme ends in 2030, and prices float with the market. Eligibility criteria apply; EFS Solar is not affiliated with any government body.
