What a 10kW System Looks Like
- 21–23 panels using today's typical 440–475W panels, needing roughly 42–46m² of roof space
- Usually paired with a 10kW inverter
- Often requires three-phase power — many networks limit single-phase solar exports (commonly to 5kW), so a 10kW system frequently needs a three-phase connection or an export-limited setup
What It Generates
Across QLD and NSW, a well-installed, unshaded 10kW system typically produces around 36–42kWh per day, averaged over the year — comfortably more than most homes use, which makes it especially well suited to households pairing solar with a battery, an EV, or both.
Output figures are estimates based on industry-standard modelling for north-facing, unshaded roofs. Orientation, tilt, shading and weather all affect real-world results.
Who a 10kW System Suits

Three-Phase & Export Limits
This is the big one to get right at 10kW. If your property is single-phase, your network may cap how much you can export — which affects the value you get from a large system. We check your phase type and local network rules as part of your quote and design accordingly, so your system is sized to what actually benefits you.
What Affects the Price of a 10kW System
Every property is different, so a tailored quote is the only real guide to your price. The main factors are component quality, your roof, your location, and whether any three-phase connection work is needed — which we quote separately and transparently. The federal incentive (below) is applied as an upfront discount.
The Federal Incentive (STCs)
A 10kW system in QLD or NSW earns roughly 68 small-scale technology certificates in 2026 — an incentive of about $2,400–$2,800 at recent certificate prices, applied as an upfront point-of-sale discount (already included above). The certificate count steps down each January until the scheme ends in 2030, and prices float with the market. Eligibility criteria apply; EFS Solar is not affiliated with any government body.
Payback
